We're making Chipply's most popular promotional tools even better. Promo Codes and E-Certificates are now simpler for dealers to manage from a single dashboard, and new Gifting features make them easier than ever for shoppers to use.

Promotions was just the beginning

Our recent Promotions update brought Promo Codes and E-Certificates together on one page. They used to live on two separate pages, with two different ways of doing the same job. Now they share one layout and the same level of visibility.

That means Promo Codes finally track issued, used, and remaining amounts the way E-Certificates always have. They export to a report. And details like Minimum Cart Total and One Use Per Email show up right in the summary view, so you're not opening every code just to check a setting.

It's a solid cleanup on its own. But Promotions was also the foundation for something bigger, and the first piece of it is here.

Meet Gifting

Gifting lets you send one link to an entire group and give every person on it a gift, whether that's free items, a percentage off, or dollars off their order.

Until now, getting a discount to a group meant sharing a promo code and hoping people used it. Some shoppers never knew they had a code. Others skimmed past the "Don't forget to use CHIPPLY20 at checkout" banner, or simply forgot about it by the time they reached the cart.

And when a code did work, nothing told the shopper they'd been given anything. Their total just quietly dropped.

Gifting takes the remembering out of it. The code applies the moment someone opens the link, and the store tells them exactly what they received.

Here's what that gets you:

  • Less admin. One link replaces a stack of individual codes, and it works for the whole group.
  • A better moment for the recipient. The gift applies itself and announces itself the second they land on the store.
  • Gift whatever fits. Give free items with the new Item Count type, take a percentage off the cart, or offer dollars off once they hit a minimum spend.
  • Reporting you already have. Gift redemptions show up in the Promo Code export, Customer Email column included.

How it works

Gifting is built on the Promo Codes you already know, so setup lives right on your store's Promotions page.

  1. Create a Promo Code and turn on Allow Shareable URL. You'll find it under Basic Information in the Add/Edit Promo Code drawer.
  2. Choose what you're giving. Free items are the headliner: the new Item Count type lets you give away a set number of items (no more working out what percentage equals two shirts), and you can scope them by category, like one free hat and one free hoodie on the same code. You can also give a percentage off, like 50% off the cart, or a flat discount with a minimum spend, like $10 off orders of $50 or more.
  3. Turn on Only 1 Use per Email. Each recipient redeems once, and the link keeps working for the next person.
  4. Copy the link and send it. Drop it in an email, a team chat, or a text. Everyone uses the same link.

What the shopper sees: When they open the link, the code applies automatically and a dialog greets them with "You've been given a gift," the offer in plain words, and the code ready to copy. Discounts apply in the cart automatically, and free items get their own line marked Free. If they order three shirts and one is covered, they'll see Qty 2 at full price and Qty 1 Free, so there's no confusion about what they paid for.

Ways to use it

  • Season kickoff gear. A coach wants every player to get a free practice tee. Set an Item Count of 1, scope it to tees, and send one link to the team's parent email list.
  • Spirit wear launch. A booster club wants to drive early orders. Send families a link for $10 off orders of $50 or more, and the discount is waiting in their cart when they arrive.
  • Employee appreciation. A company wants to thank its staff before the holidays. One link in the all-company email gives everyone 50% off their cart, and each person redeems once.
  • New hire welcome kits. Scope one free hat and one free polo to their categories on the same code, then send the link with onboarding paperwork.
  • Volunteer and event thank-yous. A nonprofit gives every volunteer one free item from its 5K store, without creating a code for each name on the sign-up sheet.

What we're building toward

Gifting is one step on a bigger path. Next up is Rostering, a smarter way for teams, schools, and businesses to keep track of their people, so every store they run already knows who it's for.

Rostering is also what opens the door to a full gifting platform. Each person on your roster will have their own unique link, so you can send a gift meant just for them, applied automatically the moment they land in the store. Today's Gifting is the first taste of that. We'll share more as it gets closer.

Start gifting

Gifting is available now on your store's Promotions page. Create a code, copy the link, and see what your customers think when their team gets a gift instead of a coupon.
